Mass COVID-19 vaccination site - exterior shot

Lowell General Hospital and its partners across the Circle Health system have announced they will stand up a mass vaccination site at Cross River Center, 1001 Pawtucket Boulevard East in Lowell at a date to be determined in early- to mid-February.

The site will initially offer COVID-19 vaccinations by appointment only for those identified as eligible in the state’s first phase of vaccination and those aged 75 or older. Lowell General leaders stress that direct scheduling of appointments is not yet available. Hospital leaders are currently working with Circle Health affiliated primary care providers to contact their eligible patients to schedule vaccination at the new site.

Pending the necessary vaccine supply, the goal will be to provide as many as 1,000 doses per day, with the ability to scale further as the state opens up wider access to the vaccine.

Several details are still being solidified, including a scheduling system and staffing for the site. Circle Health and Lowell General Hospital will operate the site in collaboration with the City of Lowell and other local health departments in its service area. Use of the site is being provided through the generosity of its owners, Farley White Interests.

“Since the vaccine was first made available, Lowell General has made vaccinating our staff and community our highest priority, and we have already given more than 8,000 vaccine doses in just over one month,” Circle Health and Lowell General President and CEO Jody White said. “Pandemic response is a team effort, and we are incredibly grateful to our partners for their support in this effort to protect our community.”
