On Thursday, May 11, hospital leadership celebrated the accomplishments of our Patient Care Services team at the annual Nursing Excellence Awards held in the Clark Auditorium at the main campus. The event, held during Nurses Week, honors those who exemplify the unwavering commitment to patient care that is a hallmark of the nursing profession. Honorees were nominated for the award by their peers.

Lowell General Hospital has achieved our third consecutive Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence, an accomplishment realized by just 2% of all hospitals nationwide.

The Lowell General Hospital Nurse Residency Program has been accredited, for a second four-year term, as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.

Fraternal twins Elizabeth and Katherine Conole were born at Lowell General Hospital and for the past 25 years have done most everything together.

Lowell General Hospital was designated as a Magnet organization in 2010 and 2015 by the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®. This prestigious designation recognizes excellence in nursing services. In June 2020, Lowell General Hospital is applying for re-designation.

The Beacon Award for Excellence — a significant milestone on the path to exceptional patient care and healthy work environments — recognizes unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards.

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN has conferred a gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence on the intensive care unit at Lowell General Hospital.
