Tufts Medical Center has been recognized with an 'A' ratingin the Spring 2023 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a testament to the Medical Center's achievements in maintaining the highest levels of patient safety. Tufts MC has received an "A" grade several times in recent Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade rankings. The 'A' grade is the highest designation bestowed by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety.

Twice per year, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades -- 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D' or 'F' -- to hospitals across the country, based on their record in more than 30 national patient safety performance measures. These criteria reflect the hospitals' performance in limiting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as instituting systems to prevent patient harm.

Leapfrog's Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients.
