Patient Financial Assistance

Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital will assist our patients in obtaining financial assistance from public programs and other sources.
Requesting financial assistance through myTuftsMed Patient Portal

You can request and submit a financial assistance application through myTuftsMed in 5 steps:

  1. Once logged in to myTuftsMed search for Financial Assistance in the Menu bar.
  2. You will be asked to enter basic information on income, household size, and may upload additional proof of income documents.
  3. If you are under 65, you will not be required to input any information related to your expenses or assets. For those over the age of 65, select the Next button to continue.
  4. You will be asked to upload documents to support your financial assistance application such as, but not limited to: Proof of Medicaid Application Determination, as well as proof of residency documentation (Photo ID).
  5. Please review and submit your application. A financial adviser will contact you.
About financial assistance

Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital has financial aid policies that are consistent with the mission and values of the organization and takes into account each individual’s ability for payment, including offering payment plans. Our financial assistance program does comply with state and federal laws and regulation. Financial Counselors are available at 978.937.6700.

Lowell General Hospital will not pursue extraordinary collections actions against an individual without first using reasonable efforts to determine if such individual is eligible for financial assistance.

Hospital locations where patients may present

All patients are able to seek emergency level services and urgent care services when they come to the hospital emergency department or designated urgent care areas. However, patients with emergent and urgent conditions may also present in a variety of other locations, including but not limited to Labor and Delivery, ancillary departments, hospital clinics and other areas. The hospital also provides other elective services at the main hospital, clinics and other outpatient locations, including but not limited to the following:
